France's health minister calls omicron a possible 'last wave'

Judging by the rate of spread of a new strain of CORONAVIRUS, in the near future everyone will receive antibodies from COVID: some after illness, others after vaccination, considers Olivier Veran

There is a possibility that, having received the omicron strain of coronavirus, humanity is faced with the “last wave” of covid-19 . This was stated in an interview with France Inter radio station by French HEALTH Minister Olivier Veran.

“Given the level of infection in our country and on the planet, it is likely that we have all acquired some form of immunity either through vaccination, or infection, or both,” the minister said.

Infections will rise in the coming days, he said, because “the circulation rate of the omicron is very high across the planet” and that the authorities “have never recorded so many infections worldwide.”

In France, the infection rate has exceeded a record 200 thousand people per day. At the same time, about 20 thousand infected with coronavirus are now in hospitals.

Veran explained that those infected with "omicron" make up the main population of patients in ordinary wards, while intensive care units and intensive care units are inhabited mainly by those infected with the previous strain - "delta".
