The HEAD of the Red Cross noted that the donors of most humanitarian organizations, including the ICRC, are more supportive of Ukraine than other poor countries. He called the current situation a new reality.

Support for Ukraine from various humanitarian donors is at a high level, while other regions, including African countries, are experiencing a constant problem of underfunding. Robert Mardini, DIRECTOR general of the International Committee of the Red Cross, informed RIA Novosti about this.

“Today there is not enough funding for the vast majority of humanitarian structures, starting with those working in Africa. I believe that countries such as Afghanistan and Myanmar are today among those for which the ICRC lacks funding. Latin America is also one of these regions. <...> it is ironic that humanitarian activities in Ukraine are very well supported by donors, but the downside is that the rest of the world is facing underfunding,” Mardini said.

At the same time, according to him, today such a situation for the Red Cross "has become a reality." “This is also the reality for the vast majority of humanitarian organizations, whether they are UN agencies and international NGOs, not to mention local non-governmental organizations,” the head of the organization added.

Roubini predicted a return in times of famine, wars and diseases Economics

Since the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the UN and other international organizations have repeatedly warned of the risk of famine in the world's poorest countries due to problems with the logistics of Russian and Ukrainian grain and fertilizers. Against this backdrop, in July, RUSSIA and Ukraine, mediated by the UN, signed a "grain deal", which created a safe corridor for the passage of ships with grain in the Black Sea.

Since the deal was signed, Moscow has repeatedly criticized it. So, in early September, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that most of the agricultural products from Ukraine go to developed Western countries, and proposed limiting the EXPORT of grain and other foodstuffs. “What we see is another blatant deception. Deception of the international community, deception of partners in Africa, in other countries that are in particular need of food,” the head of state emphasized.

Earlier, the UN predicted that about 13 million people in the world will additionally face the problem of malnutrition due to hostilities in Ukraine.
