“Now, loss of smell and loss of taste are less common. Now there are more symptoms, like ordinary SARS, that is, more cases of sore throat, body aches, and so on, ”said the scientist.

Shugushev added that earlier patients with a severe course of the disease were more often admitted to COVID hospitals after a long process of self-treatment, but now the situation has changed. “People began to realize that this (self-medication.) Should not be done, that it could be deadly,” he said. Now the condition of the majority (75%) of hospitalized patients is moderate, the head of the COVID hospital added.

Andrey Kryukov, the chief otorhinolaryngologist of Moscow, spoke about the similarity of the omicron strain of coronavirus with SARS. He pointed out that they now appear similarly, the sick often have a stuffy nose, sore and scratchy throat, all this can be treated with the usual methods. He noted that antibiotics should be used only on the advice of the attending physician and with strict adherence to the course of treatment.
