RUSSIA can achieve the required level of herd immunity to covid-19 within three months if vaccination coverage increases by 4-5 times. This was reported to TASS by the DIRECTOR of the Center. Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg.

“The volume of vaccination per day should be increased by 4-5 times, then within three months we will reach the required immunization coverage threshold and stop bending our fingers about the next wave,” he said.

Earlier, the operational headquarters for the fight against coronavirus in Russia reported that the level of herd immunity to coronavirus infection in the country exceeded 50%. At the same time, on November 12, the level of herd immunity in the country was 49%.

Among all regions, the highest level of herd immunity was noted in Chukotka (73.2%), Tuva (71%), Sevastopol (70%), Moscow Region and Karelia (both 69.6%). The outsider among all Russian subjects in this indicator is Dagestan - 23.5% (the only region where the level of herd immunity is below 30%).

In July, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed to update the model for vaccinating Russians against the COVID-19 coronavirus, taking into account the need to bring herd immunity in the country to a level of 80-90%.
