
Experimental work on adapting the Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus for the omicron strain will take no more than 10 days. This was announced by the HEAD of the Center. Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg, Interfax reports.
According to him, it will take up to 50 days to pass the licensing procedures and prove the safety and immunogenicity of the vaccine "in an emergency, if the Ministry of HEALTH tightens all regulatory procedures."
Gintsburg emphasized that the modernization of the composition of the vaccine will be required if the omicron strain displaces the circulating strain and if the protective properties of Sputnik V are weakened several times.
