Gunzburg named a way to protect yourself from COVID infection

Vaccination with Sputnik V and revaccination with a nasal vaccine is supposed to be able to protect even against CORONAVIRUS infection, but clinical studies are needed. This was stated by the DIRECTOR of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg, his words are reported by RIA Novosti.

“We assume <...> that such immunity will be sterile, that is, a vaccinated person will have not only humoral, but also mucosal immunity at the level of the entrance gate,” Gunzburg said.

At the end of August, Gunzburg announced his readiness to conduct research on the nasal form of the Sputnik V vaccine against covid-19 . “There is now serious progress with the nasal vaccine, the pre-clinic is all done,” he estimated, specifying that the drug is the second component of Sputnik V sprayed into the nose.

In mid-October, the Ministry of HEALTH approved the second phase of research. it is planned that 500 adult volunteers will take part in the tests, the studies should be completed in two years - by the end of 2023.
