
The effectiveness of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against the delta strain of coronavirus is estimated at 83 to 94%, which is higher than that of foreign drugs. This was stated by the head of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology. N.F. Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg.
“The effectiveness of the protection of Sputnik V [against the delta strain], according to the Ministry of Health, today ranges from 83 to 94%, depending on what indicators and how to count,” TASS quotes Gunzburg, who spoke at the Forum of Social Innovations of the Regions in Moscow.

The head of the center noted that data from specialists from the United States and Israel indicate the effectiveness of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines against the delta strain at the level of 40–52%. At the same time, Gunzburg assured that Sputnik V is effective against all circulating strains of coronavirus, and there is no unequivocal answer to the question of whether changes should be made to the vaccine when new strains appear.
In August, the head of the Ministry of Health, Mikhail Murashko, stated that Sputnik V was 83% effective against the delta strain and protected against the severe course of the disease by 95%.
