Gunzburg named the date for the start of research "Sputnik V" on children

Studies of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in a minor population may begin in the coming weeks if permission from the Russian Ministry of Health is obtained. This was stated by the director of the Center. N. F. Gamaleya, who developed the vaccine, Alexander Gintsburg on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.

Gintsburg noted that within two months the Ministry of Health is trying to decide under which regulators they will introduce Sputnik V in order to conduct a study of this drug on children.

According to the director of the center, there is no final decision yet. “In the next few days, we will receive an answer to this question in order to really start this research in the coming weeks,” Gunzburg promised.

In March, the director of the center said that they would begin clinical trials of the Sputnik V vaccine in the form of nasal drops for children, as it is a gentle and convenient form of vaccination, especially for babies. In his opinion, vaccination of children against COVID-19  is possible from the age of three or four. The director of the center believes that this vaccination is “a problem that will face the world community in the near future.” And it will be possible to start solving it in Russia already this year.
