Clinical trials of the Sputnik nasal CORONAVIRUS vaccine will begin next week, and the first volunteers will be vaccinated in the first days of the week. This was reported to Interfax by the DIRECTOR of the Center. N.F. Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg.

He said that 20-30 volunteers have already been recruited, in total, during the first two stages of testing, the Center plans to vaccinate up to 300 people. Then, a group of 1,500-3,000 more volunteers will be formed for the third phase, Gunzburg said. “It is assumed that the first two phases of clinical trials will take three months,” he estimated.

Gitznburg also expressed confidence that if the safety and efficacy of the vaccine is confirmed during the first two stages of clinical trials, it can be launched into civilian circulation. In his opinion, the use of a nasal vaccine would help contain the omicron strain of covid-19 , which is spreading "with terrible force."

Gunzburg said that "omicron" will not be the way out of the pandemic Society

“That’s what the nasal vaccine is for. If we had it now, we would spray a nasal form into everyone’s nose so that they would not be infected, ”he explained. According to Gunzburg, after infection in a person with good immunity, the temperature rises to 37.4-38 degrees, and the next day it already returns closer to normal. “If we had sprayed [the Sputnik nasal vaccine] on everyone, then there would be no infection,” summed up the director of the Center. N.F. Gamaleya.
