Lee Seung Geun graduated from the best dental school in SOUTH KOREA at Seoul National University. After serving in the military (South Korea has a mandatory military conscription for men), the 27-year-old met with a former fellow dentist for advice on how to start his own practice. An accident changed his fate: a fellow student had a new iPhone 3GS with him. it was in 2008, when "apple" smartphones were first officially sold in Korea. Lee became interested in a gadget on which third-party applications could be installed. After learning from a friend that there are already more than 65,000 such apps available in the App Store, he got excited about creating his own.
Ahead, the young man had eight unsuccessful projects on which he spent all his personal savings in six years, as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars borrowed. When Lee took on the ninth project, he had to quarrel with his parents, who wanted their son a stable and well-paid job. But this time, he was finally lucky: the fintech application he created not only turned him into a billionaire, but also changed the very industry of finance in the country.
