The French authorities announced the fourth wave of COVID-19 in the country

France has entered the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic with higher rates of infection than in previous phases. This was stated by government spokesman Gabriel Attal, reports Le Figaro.

“We have entered the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic. The dynamics of the epidemic is now higher than at any of the previous stages,” he said.

According to him, the number of cases of infection with coronavirus in a week increased by 125%. The government spokesman also added that in 80% of cases, people become infected with the delta strain.

Attal noted that the government intends to keep the pass system in some shopping centers "for access to essentials." He clarified that violation of the access system could result in a fine of €1.5 thousand for the first time, and up to €9 thousand in subsequent ones.
