FMBA announced the effectiveness of the Convasel vaccine against the Kraken strain

According to the FMBA, coronavirus mutations affect only the surface S-protein. “At the same time, the active substance of the new generation vaccine Convasel is the recombinant N-protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (nucleocapsid protein), which is less susceptible to mutational changes than others,” RIA Novosti was told in the department. They noted that the effectiveness of Convasel was tested on the first variants of the Omicron strain in placebo-controlled studies.

The department said that there are no plans for restrictions due to the first case of the “kraken” in Russia.

Virologists interviewed by RBC explained that the new strain is similar to Omicron, since it is one of its variants, and has no significant features, but it can infect those who have been ill with the first versions of Omicron.
