The Council of the EU has approved a proposal by the European Commission (EC) for fully vaccinated citizens to be able to travel freely within the European Union. This is stated in a statement on the website of the body.
The European Parliament approved the introduction of the vaccination certificate in the European Union on June 9. The pass system should be operational by July 1. The document must be issued free of charge, in digital or paper format, and will indicate that its bearer has been vaccinated against the coronavirus, has recently received a negative test result, or has recovered from the infection.
Holders of vaccination certificates issued in accordance with EU regulations should not be tested or quarantined if they have completed all the necessary stages of vaccination approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) at least 14 days ago.
Those who have recovered from coronavirus and who have certificates stating that less than 180 days have passed since they received a positive test result may also not be tested and quarantined.
