"United Russia" nominated Kadyrov as a candidate for the post of head of Chechnya

The Chechen regional branch of "United Russia" nominated the current HEAD of the republic Ramzan Kadyrov for another term as the head of the region. This was reported on the website of the party.

“According to the results of a secret ballot, the party members unanimously supported the current head of the region: all 176 delegates of the Conference who have the right to vote voted for the candidacy of Ramzan Kadyrov,” the message says.

Kadyrov has been heading the region since April 2007. Prior to that, he was the head of the government of Chechnya for a year. In April, after the resignation of the head of the Ulyanovsk region, Sergei Morozov, Kadyrov became the oldest head of the subject of RUSSIA.

In the last elections, held in September 2016, Kadyrov, according to the CEC, won 98% of the vote.

In May of this year, the head of Chechnya announced that he would decide on nomination to the leadership of the region after he studied public opinion on this issue. Then he said that he would refuse to put forward his candidacy if “even a few percent of the population” opposed her.

On June 23, President Vladimir Putin approved Kadyrov's nomination for the post of head of Chechnya .
