Former Italian Prime Minister and Forza Italia leader Silvio Berlusconi has leukemia, according to Corriere della Sera, without specifying the source.

According to the newspaper, this was the reason for the politician's hospitalization on March 27. He was supposed to be discharged the next day, but was left in the hospital until March 30. According to the publication, Berlusconi at that time was undergoing not only a routine examination, but also treatment.

On the eve of April 5, Berlusconi was again in the hospital. Italian Foreign Minister and Forza Italia coordinator Antonio Tajani said at the time that the politician was in intensive care due to an "unresolved issue" during his last hospitalization with pneumonia. As Corriere della Sera writes, "the pains that he [Berlusconi] is worried about and the pneumonia of the last days are actually complications that can arise in an already weakened body."

Berlusconi is 86 years old. In 2016, he was hospitalized due to heart failure and underwent heart surgery. Three years later, the politician was again admitted to the hospital with renal colic. In 2020, the politician was diagnosed with CORONAVIRUS and bilateral pneumonia; the next year, he again fell ill with  covid-19 .

Berlusconi founded Forza Italia in 1994, won parliamentary elections with it and became prime minister. He also won parliamentary elections and became prime minister in 2001, 2005 and 2008, and resigned in 2011 after a series of scandals and prosecution. In 2019, the politician was elected to the European Parliament from Italy. In September 2022, he won the election to the Senate from the constituency of Monza.
