CNBC узнал о переговорах Apple о переносе производства iPad в Индию

CNBC learned of Apple 's talks to move iPad production to Indiaand plans of the company to move production from China

Apple is in talks with India to move some iPad production to the country from China amid Beijing's COVID-19 policy and protests in recent weeks over strict restrictions, CNBC reported, citing two sources close to the Indian government.

However, interlocutors warn that a shortage of highly qualified specialists could slow down the implementation of these plans. In addition, territorial disputes between India and China can also slow down the process.

As The Wall Street Journal wrote, Apple has accelerated plans to transfer part of its production outside of China. The company is urging suppliers to be more proactive in scheduling product assembly elsewhere in Asia, especially in India and Vietnam, and is seeking to reduce reliance on Foxconn-led Taiwanese assemblers. Vietnam, for example, could take over the production of Apple products such as AirPods, smartwatches and laptops, suppliers said.

At the end of September, Apple began production of the iPhone 14 in India, after releasing a new generation of smartphones earlier in the month. Until this year, the company used its production facilities in that country only for older phones. JP Morgan analysts estimate that by the end of this year, Apple will move 5% of iPhone 14 production to India, and by 2025 will produce 25% of all iPhones there.
