Over the past period of this year, more than a twofold increase in the number of tick bites was recorded in the region. This was announced at a meeting with journalists on May 12 by the deputy head of the Rospotrebnadzor department for the Novosibirsk region, Lada Samoilova.
“According to operational data, at the moment it is almost twice as much as in the same period in 2021. We have registered 1,911 tick bites against 886 last year,” Samoilova said.
This is due to the warm weather in the region and the lifting of restrictive coronavirus measures that were in place in previous years, the specialist noted.
“We see a sharp increase in the number of applications during the May holidays. In 2020 and 2021, restrictive measures were in place in the Novosibirsk Region, when people were restricted in their movements. If someone was sick with coronavirus, then his entourage was in isolation. Today there is already a freer regime, ”the specialist noted.
