In GKB No. 15 im. O.M. Filatov in Moscow, the number of hospitalizations of patients with coronavirus increased by 30% over the week, said the chief physician of the hospital, Valery Vechorko.

The proportion of patients admitted to the intensive care unit was 34%, and the proportion of those hospitalized in serious and extremely serious condition was 24%. Every third patient is connected to artificial lung ventilation devices, Vechorko noted. The number of pregnant women who fell ill with COVID-19 and need hospital treatment has also increased.

“Indeed, there has been an increase in the incidence. But this was expected. And we are ready for it,” the head physician assured. He recalled the need to be vaccinated in order to protect the body from the severe consequences of the infection.

Earlier, Denis Protsenko, head physician of the capital's hospital in Kommunarka, said that preparations for a new wave of hospitalizations had already been made. He warned that in Russia in general and in Moscow in particular, it would not be possible to avoid the growth of infections with the omicron strain.
