The number of hospitalized with COVID per day has doubled

Over the past day, 5,011 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in RUSSIA, 3,248 people have been hospitalized, the operational headquarters reports. On May 3, 5093 cases of infection were detected, while 1398 people were hospitalized, that is, 132% less than on May 4.

However, almost 31% more patients with covid-19 recovered over the past day than the day before - 8723 people. 139 people have died - ten more than on May 3.

In the first place in terms of the number of recorded cases for May 4 is Moscow (164), followed by St. Petersburg (144) and the Irkutsk region (132). Also, more than 100 cases per day were detected in the Kemerovo, Sverdlovsk regions and the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In some regions, for example, in Karachay-Cherkessia and Tyva, not a single case of covid was registered in a day.

In total, more than 18 million cases of COVID-19 infection have been detected in Russia since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 370 thousand people have died.

In mid-March, Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko assumed that this subspecies would be the last to prevail in Russia. Experts interviewed by RBC at the end of April warned that this option could cause a new wave of coronavirus in the country as early as June-July.
