Specialists of the Center The Gamaleyas are considering the possibility of developing a CORONAVIRUS vaccine based on several strains, such as Delta and Omicron, Denis Logunov, deputy head of the center, said on Rossiya 1.

“It is being considered and discussed how to make a polyvalent “Sputnik”, where there will be both “delta” and “omicron”, in order to cover the base layers - “wuhan” or “delta”, from where a new sprout of a new strain that causes alertness can come from, - he said. According to him, "omicron" will "close these sprouts" as it also evolves. Logunov believes that the creation of such a more complex vaccine is possible.

“The idea of ​​vaccinating the population against covid is to save lives. This will reduce mortality, ”the scientist emphasized.

Logunov noted that it is “too early to relax”: the number of people infected with coronavirus per day will be “very high” until the wave of the omicron strain passes.
