On March 8, the management of the McDonald's fast food restaurant chain announced the suspension of all 850 restaurants in RUSSIA, 27 of them were opened in the Rostov region.

On the same day, the suspension of investments in Russia was announced by Yum! Brands, which owns the brands KFC, Pizza Hut. it was decided to close 70 KFC restaurants, in total there are more than 900 of them in the country.

Rostov restaurateurs told RBC Rostov how the departure of major players will change the structure of the restaurant business in the Don capital and what new opportunities will open up for other market participants.

Strength in technology

The future prospects of Rostov street food are practically not connected with the suspension of McDonald's activities, since this institution simply has no direct competitors, Rostov restaurateur Maxim Kogan is sure.

“McDonald's is a unique product in terms of the fact that there is nothing to replace it. Everything else is populist stuff. There is nothing to change it for, both in terms of cost for the consumer and in terms of product quality. The simplest burger there could be taken for 60 rubles. For this money, it is now impossible to eat anywhere at all, ”Kogan said.

In addition, the uniqueness of the network was in production technologies that could hardly be repeated by Rostov cafes and restaurants, the restaurateur emphasizes. McDonald's large geographic distribution throughout the country also helped to effectively extract profits.
