Paper and paint are getting more expensive. How the printing houses of the region live

Foreign paper suppliers began to refuse to work with Russian printing houses or switched to full prepayment. In this regard, prices for printed products in the region will increase by at least 50%. This was told to RBC Kaliningrad by the DIRECTOR of the printing house "Amber print" of the media group "Western Press" Mikhail Boyko.

According to him, over the past few weeks, the cost of one ton of imported paper has increased from 800 to 1,600 euros. And if, until recently, paper, ink and offset plates for printing were bought mainly abroad - in Germany, Lithuania and Poland, now we have to reorient ourselves to domestic production.

“The last time we loaded the car, they loaded us with paint, but the paper and plates weren’t loaded - the company refused to work with RUSSIA. Now we take paper of domestic production, it is also not cheap, but it is an order of magnitude worse in quality. We are looking for new suppliers. In Lithuania, they seem to have found a supplier who will work with us, but on a full prepayment. If earlier there was a stretch of payments for a month or two, now there is a full prepayment,” continues Mikhail Boyko.

There are also problems with paying for foreign deliveries. To pay for the paint, the printing house was forced to switch from the euro to the DOLLAR and pay for it. Due to transactional difficulties, the company is unable to order the next paint shipment because the previous one has not been paid for.

The Lithuanian supplier of German paint has not yet abandoned long-term cooperation, but Amber Print is considering the option of switching to Indian paint.
