More than half of Russians are against the introduction of a new lockdown due to an increase in the incidence of coronavirus infection. Such results were shown by a survey of Otkritie Bank, the results of which are referred to by RIA Novosti.
Thus, 51% of Russians are confident that the new tough restrictions "will completely kill the economy and further reduce the income of the population," the study says. 28% of respondents believe that in their regions there are no sanitary grounds for the introduction of a new lockdown. At the same time, this opinion is most often held in Siberia (36%) and the North Caucasus (35%).
Only 20% of respondents support the idea of introducing a lockdown as a response to a new wave of the pandemic. This measure is most actively supported in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region (32%), as well as in Moscow and the Moscow Region (28%).
The least ready for a lockdown are in the Southern Federal District (12%) and the Volga region (15%).
The survey, which was conducted on June 25-30, involved 1,000 people from cities with a population of more than 100,000.
In early March, only 17% of Russians, in a survey conducted by the Superjob portal, reported that they retained positive memories of the period of self-isolation in the spring of 2020. Of these, 3% said that being forced to stay at home brought a feeling of unplanned rest.
The regime of general self-isolation in connection with the coronavirus pandemic in Russia was announced at the end of March 2020. It lasted almost a month and a half and ended after the May holidays. In some regions, restrictions continued to apply until June. During the lockdown, residents were prohibited from going outside, except for nearby grocery stores, pharmacies, as well as visiting hospitals and walking pets.

At the same time, the Kremlin emphasized that the decision on new restrictions should be made by the leaders of the regions based on the epidemiological situation on the ground. For example, from June 27 to July 11, a lockdown was announced in Buryatia. All enterprises stopped working there, except for life-supporting ones, as well as grocery stores, pharmacies and transport.
