The United States of America intends to donate over 1.2 billion doses of coronavirus vaccines to other countries by the end of 2022. This was announced at a press conference during his visit to Indonesia by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, broadcast by Reuters.
“By the end of next year, we will have donated more than 1.2 billion doses of vaccine to the world,” he said.
The head of American diplomacy stressed that of the 300 million doses that the United States has already donated to the world, about a third was sent to the countries of the Indo-Pacific region. “We have also committed over $2.8 billion in additional lifesaving assistance to the region. This amount includes $77 million in Indonesian assistance, including for the purchase of personal protective equipment and medical oxygen for hospitals,” Blinken said.
