The Belarusian airline Belavia confirmed plans to reduce staff due to the actions of European countries, noting that "we are not talking about 50% reductions." This was reported to RBC in the company.
“In today's circumstances, cutting costs, as well as declaring downtime or optimizing the number of staff, are unpleasant, albeit natural steps. At the same time, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that in this situation, decisions on personnel can only be made on the recommendation of the heads of departments and only taking into account the current volume of work. Mass layoffs are not considered,” the airline said. They added that there is no talk of reducing half of the staff.

The company noted that the carrier is forced to cancel dozens of flights during the peak season due to circumstances beyond the control of the airline. “Complicating the situation is that the carrier has only recently begun to recover from massive flight cancellations due to the pandemic in 2020. I would like to note that in the midst of the covid-19 epidemic , there were no staff cuts. At the same time, cost reduction was achieved by reducing allowances and reducing work schedules,” they noted.
The Belarusian blogger Anton Motolko wrote in his TELEGRAM channel that the Belarusian airline Belavia is laying off half of its employees after the restrictions of European countries. He published the document, and later added: "They report a reduction in staff by 50%."
