US President Joe Biden has extended a state of emergency for one year in connection with the "harmful activities" of the Russian authorities. This was reported by the press service of the White House.
The state of emergency was extended by the American authorities to eliminate the "emergency threat to national security", foreign policy and the US economy, the document says.
The Biden administration holds RUSSIA responsible for "undermining the conduct of free elections in the United States and its allies," cybercrime, the use of transnational corruption, and the harassment of dissidents and journalists.

In addition, the White House announced "undermining security in countries and regions important to the national security of the United States, and violating generally recognized principles of international law, including respect for the territorial integrity of states."
Biden declared a US state of emergency on April 15, 2021, under the provisions of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to address an alleged threat to US national security, foreign policy, and the economy.
At the time, the Biden administration listed similar threats that the US believes come from Russia.

On the same day, the US imposed new sanctions against Russia. The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury prohibited banks and other financial institutions in the country from purchasing in the primary market denominated in rubles and other currencies bonds issued by the Bank of Russia, the National Welfare Fund (NWF) or the Russian Ministry of Finance after June 14, 2021, and also provide the latter with loans.
Russian authorities have repeatedly denied involvement in the 2016 US presidential election. Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who investigated the ties between the 45th US President Donald Trump's team and Moscow, concluded that there was no evidence of collusion with Russia, but concluded that there was interference in the elections.
