Austria introduces lockdown for unvaccinated against COVID-19

The Austrian authorities will introduce a lockdown for citizens who have not been vaccinated against coronavirus from November 15, announced the chancellor of the republic, Alexander Schallenberg.

“We have to increase the level of vaccination. It is shamefully low,” he said (quoted by Deutsche Welle).

Lockdown introduced for ten days. The unvaccinated will be banned from leaving the house without a good reason. For those who go to work or school, to the grocery store or to the DOCTOR, the restriction does not apply. It also does not apply to children under the age of 12, writes Die Welt.

In total, about a third of the country's population, or about 2 million unvaccinated citizens, will have to go into self-isolation, according to Shallenberg. The vaccination documents were asked to be checked by the police. There are fines for violating the measures.
