The Association of Tour Operators of RUSSIA (ATOR) has applied to the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and to the travel associations of a number of European and Asian countries with proposals to restore international outbound tourism in the current conditions. This was reported by the press service of the association.
ATOR called on the global tourism community to recognize the fact that despite all efforts around the world, the covid crisis has not ended and the pandemic continues. Tour operators believe that multiple statements from the World HEALTH Organization (WHO) suggest that covid-19 is “with us for the long haul.”
ATOR proposed not to wait for the end of the pandemic, but to start restoring mutual tourist trips now, having developed common rules and standards. “Procrastination on this issue will only exacerbate the crisis in the global tourism industry,” the association is convinced.
