The type of leukemia diagnosed in former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is treatable. This was reported to ANSA by sources close to the politician.

The form of chronic leukemia that Berlusconi, 86, was diagnosed with is not uncommon for people his age and is usually treated with minimally invasive methods, they said.

Agency sources claim that the politician’s body responds well to chemotherapy and antibiotic treatment, which were prescribed due to pneumonia that appeared on the background of leukemia. They noted that Berlusconi's condition "shows improvements compared to yesterday."

The fact that Berlusconi was diagnosed with leukemia was reported on April 6 by the newspaper Corriere della Sera. According to the newspaper, it was cancer that caused him to be hospitalized on March 27. On April 5, Berlusconi was again admitted to the hospital, he was placed in the intensive care unit of the San Raffaele cardiology department. The ex-premier began a course of chemotherapy.

In 2016, Berlusconi was hospitalized due to heart failure and underwent heart surgery. Three years later, the politician again ended up in the hospital with renal colic. In 2020, the politician was diagnosed with CORONAVIRUS and bilateral pneumonia, and the following year he fell ill with covid-19 again .
