Alikhanov on the blow to carriers: they can reorient themselves to Russia

The authorities of the Kaliningrad region promised to support transport and logistics companies that worked in European countries until April 8 and suffered greatly from the EU ban on the movement of Russian and Belarusian cars. This was told by the head of the region Anton Alikhanov in an interview with RIA Novosti.

A large number of Kaliningrad carriers worked in Poland, France, Germany and other EU countries, the governor noted.

“Of course, the news with the closure is not very positive for them now, but they have the opportunity – and they are already doing this – to reorient themselves towards transportation to Russia,” Alikhanov believes.

According to him, the regional government is developing support measures together with representatives of the Kaliningrad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and carriers.

At the same time, the head of the region stressed that all transport companies that carry goods to and from Russia in transit through Lithuania continue to work.

“In fact, everyone lived with negative expectations and prepared that the decision would be without taking into account transit to Kaliningrad. Therefore, we consider the current moment, on the contrary, from the positive side," the governor summed up.

Earlier, RBC Kaliningrad wrote that from April 16, due to the start of the fifth package of anti-Russian sanctions, Kaliningrad carriers will not be able to transport goods from Europe to the region. The document, published in the official journal of the European Union, states that trucks from Russia and Belarus located on the territory of the union must leave it.
