More than 5 million tourists visited Crimea this year, 3 million of them in just two summer months, this is higher than pre-pandemic figures, HEAD of the republic Sergey Aksenov said on VKontakte.
“In seven months of 2021, the tourist flow to Crimea amounted to 5.067 million tourists, which is 27% higher than the same period in 2019,” the head of the region said. He clarified that 60% of tourists came via the Crimean bridge, about a third (32%) flew to the peninsula by plane, 8% came by train.
According to Aksyonov, twice as many tourists came to Crimea in June and July than a year ago, as well as 13% more than in 2019. So while hotels and resorts in the region are typically 76% occupied, this year's average occupancy was 82%, up to 95% in places, he noted. In total, there are more than 1,000 hotels in the republic and other places of recreation for tourists; more than 155,000 tourists can be accommodated in them.

Aksenov added that some hotels and sanatoriums have already reached the level of 60% of vaccinated employees, in some even all employees have been vaccinated - 100% of people. “At the moment, there have been no serious violations and surges of a new CORONAVIRUS infection in hotels and sanatoriums,” he said.
Aksenov on July 21 warned of a possible closure of the tourist season if the increase in the incidence in the region does not stabilize. In mid-July, the region's Minister of HEALTH, Anton Lyaskovskiy, allowed the introduction of a mandatory vaccination requirement for tourists, but then the department ruled out this option.
