About elections

In RUSSIA, on September 17, elections to the State Duma will start, which for the first time will last three days. Candidates from 14 parties and self-nominated candidates will run for the lower chamber, elected according to a mixed system. In seven regions, including Moscow, voters will be able to vote online.

At the same time, many opposition candidates were not allowed to participate in the parliamentary elections. Some were prosecuted. RBC reported that a third of the heads of the regional headquarters of Alexei Navalny (the organization is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned) are under investigation. Some, including Dmitry Gudkov and many of Navalny's supporters, have left the country.

RBC asked the parties running for the State Duma whether they consider the elections competitive, how they feel about the removal of opposition candidates, and what they think about Smart Voting.
