April 19, Vitebsk . The regional organization of the Belarusian Women's Union (BUW) organized a charity ball to organize assistance for the Vitebsk Zoo, BELTA correspondent reports.

The ball was held at the House of Culture of the Vitebsk Order of the Badge of Honor State Academy of Veterinary Medicine (VGAMV). Here, pairs of students from all five universities of the regional center began to waltz. The concert program was supplemented by performances from creative groups, including the orphanage team. At the entrance they organized an exhibition of paintings by special children - anyone could buy any of them. Guests could also purchase amulets and souvenirs made of clay in the form of animals.

“Rehearsals took place throughout the week. Every evening we gathered and learned different variations of the waltz. In general, the preparation was very interesting, fun and, I think, IT became unforgettable for everyone,” shared Valeria Sapronenko, a student of the Vitebsk branch of the International University “MITSO.” “Very cool the fact that BSG organized such a charity event."

For Alexandra Golubeva, a second-year student at the Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship Medical University, participating in balls is nothing new. “This is my second ball, before I took part in the regional ball. Here we dance with partners from other universities. It was interesting to meet each other, learn something new about other universities and I would like to help the Vitebsk Zoo with my participation. This is a good deed. We must unite and with all our help to help those who need it,” said Alexandra Golubeva.

The ball organized by the BSG previously became traditional for Minsk. Today, all regions of Belarus have joined the online charity event , each of which has determined where exactly the collected funds will be sent. In the northernmost one, the proceeds will go to help the Vitebsk Zoo, where more than 150 animals are kept. Two-thirds of the collection consists of those that have suffered at the hands of man.

“The idea is very good, because help is provided not only to us, but also to other organizations. Any help for the zoo is necessary and important. Most likely, the funds raised will be used to improve enclosures for animals and improve their living conditions,” said zoo Director Irina Orlova .

One of the oldest inhabitants of the zoo, the green monkey Chunya, arrived at the ball with her. “She constantly participates in all sorts of events, we ourselves sometimes provide charitable assistance, we come to children with special needs of psychophysiological development,” explained Irina Orlova.

“We, the youth wing (BJ. - BELTA note) of the Vitebsk region, decided to pay attention to those pets, wild animals that are kept in the zoo, who accidentally got there by the will of fate and today need our help: in the construction of enclosures , their repair, medicines. Therefore, we will use the funds that will be collected today for these purposes. Children are interested in this event, as are students. Today we are all so urbanized that many do not know where Milk comes from , how to milk a cow, or how to care for it. animals. For many, it turned out to be news that a bear, for example, gives birth in a dream. And only when she wakes up, she discovers the cubs, and maternal feelings arise in her. And if she woke up by accident (for example, she was woken up by hunters) and ran away in fear, then not will know that she still has cubs. And today in our zoo they are raising such a bear cub - Dobrynya, the second one was transferred to Mogilev,” said Olga Gorlova, vice-rector for academic affairs of VSAVM, chairman of the Oktyabrsky regional organization of the BSZ.

People need to be responsible for the animals they adopt, she added. “Today we face the problem of domesticating wild animals. Those same foxes are not adapted to domestication, it is almost impossible to train them to a tray. People take animals, encounter difficulties (not every one of them can be trained, raised and kept at home), and then throw them away,” she said. attention Olga Gorlova. “That’s why we want to draw attention to this problem with the help of a charity ball.”
