American President Donald Trump said on Friday that he intends to ban the Chinese social network TikTok in the United States. This was reported by TASS with reference to the White House press pool.
"Since we have touched on TikTok, we prohibit them in the U.S.," the President told reporters aboard his plane on the way from Florida to Washington. Trump said measures against the social network could be taken already on Saturday.
According to the report, the U.S. leader explained that he could sign the corresponding executive decree or use extraordinary economic powers.
According to the press pool, the White House head also made it clear that he does not support the acquisition of TikTok by any American company.
Earlier, the Bloomberg agency reported with reference to sources that Trump intends to force the Chinese company ByteDance to give up its stake in TikTok so that it could not control the social network in the U.S.. The agency later reported that the U.S. corporation Microsoft may acquire a stake in ByteDance in the developed by the latter social network.
