In the Kaliningrad region on the morning of August 12, 183 cases of Coronavirus were detected - this is 15 cases more than a day ago. 38 people were hospitalized, 119 residents recovered. Like yesterday, doctors recorded one death. This is reported by the information center for monitoring the situation with the infection.

In total, for the entire duration of the pandemic - from March 2020 to August 12, 2022 - 172,214 people were infected in the region, 168,859 patients recovered, and 1,941 died.

Due to the increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 , regional Rospotrebnadzor specialists are asking the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases to wear masks in transport and public places where social distance cannot be observed.

As RBC Kaliningrad wrote earlier, a more contagious strain now dominates in the region than all the previous ones. The virus affects even people with basic immunity. And if at the beginning of the pandemic people were rarely re-infected, then those who had already passed the “Wuhan” virus and the delta began to get sick with the omicron. They easily carry the infection, but get sick again and again.
